SBG's Next-Gen Ekinox INS is Twice as Accurate

sbg-ekinox

SBG Systems has just announced a new generation of its Ekinox inertial navigation sensors.

Originally released in 2013, the Ekinox has seen a total redesign. By adding a new accelerometer and gyroscope, SBG has achieved attitude measurements twice as accurate as the previous generation.

The Ekinox INS now boasts 0.02° roll and pitch, 0.05° heading, and centimeter-level position. SBG says the newer version also boasts significantly higher resistance to vibration. These upgrades mean it is well suited for use in mobile mapping systems for aerial, terrestrial, or pedestrian acquisition.

Lastly, SBG is making the new Ekinox INS sensors available for the same cost the same as the previous generation. They have also maintained the same small, compact form factor that makes it possible to install the INS in a number of configurations.

SBG says the product line will be available in the second quarter of 2017.
